Prosumatorul: de la beneficiar pasiv la actor activ în sistemul energetic
In Romania, the number of prosumers has surged from 300 in 2019 to over 373,000 by mid-2026, significantly impacting the energy market. Prosumers, primarily individuals, have installed a total capacity of 4,148 MW, creating challenges for the electricity grid due to fluctuating production and consumption patterns. The current regulations exempt prosumers from imbalance costs, leading to increased expenses for other consumers. The rise of prosumers has prompted calls for regulatory changes to better integrate them into the energy system. The concept of aggregators is emerging, allowing small producers to collectively manage energy resources. Romania is also developing frameworks for energy communities, enabling shared energy production and consumption among members, which could enhance system flexibility and efficiency.
