Canadian group Alimentation Couche-Tard plans to acquire Polish Żabka for approximately $8.6 billion, marking a significant retail consolidation in Europe. The deal, if completed, would be Couche-Tard's largest acquisition to date. Żabka, which operates the Froo chain in Romania, has shown strong financial growth and expansion plans. Couche-Tard aims to leverage Żabka's digital expertise and maintain its brand and management structure. The transaction is expected to generate annual synergies of around $250 million and enhance Couche-Tard's presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
