The President of the Iași Chamber of Commerce advocated for a navigable corridor from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea during a meeting in Gdansk. This initiative aims to enhance regional economic cooperation and align with EU goals for increasing inland waterway transport. The proposal, known as the "Blue Highway," has historical roots dating back to discussions between Poland and Romania in the 1920s. The corridor would connect key rivers, significantly reducing transport distances compared to maritime routes. The project is seen as vital for regional security and economic competitiveness, especially in light of current geopolitical changes.
