The Romanian Chamber of Deputies approved a decarbonization project for the energy sector, including a PSD amendment requiring new energy capacities before phasing out coal and lignite production. The project received 180 votes in favor, with 9 against and 27 abstentions. The amendment stipulates that the gradual phase-out of coal and lignite must occur only after the installation and operationalization of alternative energy sources with reduced carbon emissions.
