NuScale, the American partner of Nuclearelectrica in the SMR project at Doicești, has failed to meet over 80% of essential conditions for project continuation. This situation raises concerns about the project's viability, as significant risks remain with the Romanian state and SNN. SNN plans to notify NuScale regarding the unmet conditions and will conduct an analysis to identify factors contributing to this situation. Three key conditions remain unfulfilled, including a framework agreement, a firm commitment for module acquisition, and institutional support for natural gas issues. SNN is considering updating its strategy for SMR implementation in Romania, potentially exploring other American technologies while keeping NuScale in the picture.
