ING Bank Romania reported a net profit of 667.4 million lei in the first half of the year, down 29.2% from the previous year. The bank attributes this decline to increased banking taxes and a challenging macroeconomic environment. Despite this, the bank gained 120,000 new customers, with a significant portion under 24 years old, and total revenues rose by 1.6% to 2.1 billion lei. Lending volumes increased by 14.9%, reaching 52 billion lei, while deposits grew by 5.4% to 72.5 billion lei. The bank also mobilized over 810 million euros for sustainable projects, supporting Romania's transition to a low-carbon economy. Additionally, ING participated in a record sovereign bond issuance of 4 billion dollars, enhancing Romania's position in international financial markets.
