Industrial production in Romania decreased by 3.4% in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period last year, primarily due to a 4.4% decline in the manufacturing sector. However, energy production and supply saw a 2% increase. Adjusted figures show a 3.7% drop in industrial production from January to August 2026 compared to 2025, with manufacturing down by 4.8%. In August 2026, industrial production fell by 12.6% from the previous month, largely due to a 15% drop in manufacturing. Year-on-year, industrial production decreased by 0.4%, while the extractive industry grew by 8.6%.
