In July, electric vehicle sales surged in Germany due to a new government subsidy scheme, benefiting mainly Chinese manufacturers like BYD. Over 78,600 battery electric vehicles were registered, marking a 62% increase from last year. The German auto industry faces challenges from rising production costs and competition from foreign automakers. The government has allocated three billion euros for subsidies, which can cover around 800,000 vehicles by 2029. While the new incentives boost demand for electric cars, the benefits are shared between European and Asian manufacturers.
