Two years would be served under electronic surveillance. The prosecution claims the funds were exchanged for Dati's influence in the European Parliament. They also seek a five-year ban on her candidacy and public office. If granted, Dati would lose her mayoral position in Paris. The case also involves Carlos Ghosn, former CEO of Renault-Nissan, who is being tried in absentia. The court's decision is expected in a few months.
