Procedură în premieră. O tumoră care apăsa inima și plămânii unui făt, micșorată fără operație
Chinese doctors successfully reduced a potentially fatal lung mass in a fetus using a minimally invasive microwave technique. This innovative procedure, performed for the first time for this condition, could offer a new treatment option for congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM). The case involved a 40-year-old pregnant woman whose fetus had a significant lung mass that was compressing vital organs. Traditional treatments often carry risks, but the microwave ablation technique showed rapid results, significantly shrinking the tumor within days. The baby was delivered via cesarean section at 37 weeks, weighing approximately 2.9 kg. While this case marks a significant milestone, further research is needed to confirm the safety and effectiveness of this method in broader applications.
