The event attracted thousands and was complicated by protests. Tyler Robinson, charged with Kirk's murder, pleaded not guilty and could face the death penalty. Prosecutors noted Robinson expressed hatred towards Kirk in a text message. The university president emphasized the need to learn from the analysis and implement its recommendations. Kirk was killed by a sniper on September 10, 2025, and statues in his honor have since been vandalized shortly after unveiling.
