During the opening of Ukraine's first honorary consulate in Romania, Oleksandr Mischenko emphasized the importance of respecting the rights of the Romanian minority in Ukraine. He expressed gratitude for Romania's support to Ukraine and highlighted the shared history and communities between the two nations. The consulate, located in Apahida, aims to strengthen ties and provide assistance to Ukrainians living in Romania, estimated at 50,000 in the northwest region. Mischenko acknowledged Romania as a strategic friend and thanked international solidarity against Russian aggression. The event included the national anthems of both countries and a moment of silence for war victims.
