Principalele monumente şi situri arheologice din Grecia, dotate cu un nou sistem de detecţie a incendiilor • Newsweek România
Greece is implementing a modern fire detection system at its archaeological sites to combat increasing wildfire threats. The system was successfully tested at an ancient site in Mycenae, triggering an automatic alert during a fire incident. By the end of August, six systems will be operational at key locations, including the Acropolis and Phaistos, with eight more to follow in September. The technology combines thermal and optical data to provide real-time information to firefighters. Greece faces severe wildfires each summer, with an average of 40 incidents daily, necessitating extensive firefighting efforts. Recent years have seen numerous arrests related to these fires, highlighting ongoing concerns about fire safety.
