Primul sistem de gestionare a apelor uzate bazat pe soluții naturale în mediul rural din România, implementat în satul Viscri, inclus în patrimoniul UNESCO
The ECO H2O project in Viscri, Romania, received a special award for resilience in water management. It established the first nature-inspired wastewater treatment system in a rural UNESCO heritage site. This system utilizes constructed wetlands and natural filtration by aerobic and anaerobic bacteria to protect groundwater and public health. It addresses the lack of sewage infrastructure in the historic village, improving sanitation for residents and visitors alike. The project promotes sustainable and cost-effective sanitation solutions, serving as a replicable model for other rural communities.
