Brașov is the first Romanian city to approve local rules for the 'Lift for Life' program, aimed at installing elevators in older buildings. Actual installation will commence once the government finalizes implementation norms and funding mechanisms. Senator Robert Cazanciuc praised Brașov's decision and hopes other cities will follow suit. Approximately 3.5 million Romanians live in buildings without elevators, and the new law allows local authorities to prepare projects for installation. Funding may come from various sources, including EU funds and local budgets.
