A significant discovery in North Dakota has revealed the first continuous trackway of an adult Tyrannosaurus rex, consisting of four footprints over seven meters. These tracks, approximately 66.5 million years old, were found in the Hell Creek formation and provide insight into the movement of this large predator. The footprints indicate a size consistent with T. rex, and researchers estimate the dinosaur moved at a speed of about 1.5-2 meters per second. This find is particularly valuable as it offers direct evidence of T. rex locomotion, contrasting with smaller tracks found elsewhere. Further excavations are unlikely due to geological constraints, making these tracks a rare glimpse into the past.
