Alstom has launched the first two battery-powered regional trains in France, part of a national program worth over 41 million euros. The funding is shared among five French regions, "CFR Călători," and Alstom. This initiative aims to decarbonize non-electrified lines. The trains have been retrofitted with lithium-ion batteries, providing over 80 km of autonomy. A regenerative braking system enhances energy efficiency by up to 20%, ensuring a quieter ride for passengers. Romania is also considering battery-powered trains for the Brașov Metropolitan project.
