This operation, conducted over several days, involved careful calculations and safety checks, including drone inspections. Initially, divers were considered for the task, but the plan changed due to safety concerns. The barges were filled with stone and water to ensure a controlled descent. The first two barges took about 11 hours to sink, while the last two took around seven hours. The water level increase is expected to last a few days, depending on river flow and hydrological forecasts, which predict a slight increase in flow rates after a stagnation period.
