The outbreak has led to over 11,000 reported cases in Michigan, with 193 hospitalizations. Cyclospora is caused by a microscopic parasite that can contaminate food and water, leading to severe diarrhea. The CDC noted a significant increase in cases this year, with over 18,000 domestic cases identified. A recall of contaminated iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms has been issued.
