A former ROMATSA employee received a record retirement bonus of approximately 532,000 euros, part of over 46 million lei allocated for pensions in 2025. In the last two and a half years, ROMATSA has paid around 20 million euros for retirement bonuses to 96 employees, averaging about 200,000 euros each. The agency claims it is self-financed through fees from airlines, not directly funded by the state budget. In 2024, 43 employees received a total of 38.4 million lei in retirement aid, while in 2026, 12 employees received nearly 19.45 million lei, with the highest bonus being 2.77 million lei. All amounts are gross values, subject to social contributions and income tax.
