Ion Doldurea, the mayor of Caracal, announced his resignation due to health issues following a serious car accident. The 71-year-old PSD member, who has served two terms, also stepped down as head of the local PSD organization. After being involved in an accident six months ago, he underwent brain surgery to remove a blood clot. Despite initial attempts to continue his duties, his health deteriorated, leading to a medical recommendation to avoid stress and effort. Doldurea highlighted his administration's achievements, including securing over 200 million euros in European and national funds for local projects. He expressed his commitment to support cultural and educational initiatives in Caracal even after his resignation. Vice Mayor Laurențiu Pătran will take over his responsibilities.
