Benone Moraru, the mayor of Slănic Moldova, was detained by DNA for accepting bribes totaling 21,000 euros related to a public contract. He allegedly received 15,000 euros in July 2026 and an additional 6,000 euros in October 2026 while being caught in the act. Moraru, in his first term as mayor, was elected in June 2024 as a member of PSD.
