Ion Doldurea, the mayor of Caracal, has announced his resignation following medical advice after a brain surgery. He faced health issues stemming from a car accident six months ago, which required surgery to remove a blood clot. Despite his efforts to continue working, doctors advised him to avoid stress and exertion. Doldurea expressed confidence in vice mayor Laurențiu Pătran, who will take over his duties. Doldurea had previously been suspended from the PSD party after a tragic incident in Crevedia but returned and was re-elected in June 2024.
