The conflict over the road passage over the A0 highway intensified when Berceni's mayor halted repair works by the Turkish contractor Alsim Alarko. The mayor expressed concerns about traffic diversion plans, insisting on a more suitable solution for local residents. The proposed detour via Bucharest's ring road was rejected by the local administration, which suggested an alternative route requiring significant road upgrades. CNAIR stated that the requested changes would take too long and be costly. The repairs, covered by the contractor's warranty, are expected to last up to 90 days, while the alternative route could take six months. Local officials highlighted the negative impact of traffic changes on residents, especially students and the elderly.
