Primăria Oradea a tăiat unul dintre cei mai vechi arbori din oraș: un frasin care avea aproape 250 de ani / Doborârea lui ar fi trebuit făcută doar cu avizul Gărzii Forestiere

A nearly 250-year-old ash tree was cut down shortly after being recognized by the city as special, violating a law meant to protect it. The tree, located on Calea Matei Basarab, was the second oldest in Oradea, estimated to have been planted around 1780. Despite being included in a plan for remarkable trees, the municipality claimed it was completely dry, necessitating its removal. However, evidence suggested it was not entirely dead. The cutting of the tree may lead to penalties for the city under the law, which requires special procedures for the removal of such trees. New regulations were introduced shortly after the tree's removal, detailing the responsibilities of authorities regarding remarkable trees.
