The mayor of Movileni, Ion Sorin Toma, was fined and had his driving license suspended for speeding while rushing to a fire. The incident occurred when a wildfire threatened local properties, prompting a quick response from residents and firefighters. Toma claims he was pursued by unmarked police, who he alleges hindered his efforts to extinguish the fire. However, police reports state they were only enforcing traffic laws after recording his speed at 115 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. They later allowed him to continue to the fire site. IPJ Olt announced an internal investigation to clarify the situation, while a criminal case for destruction has been opened regarding the fire.
