Prima stea verde a fost descoperită. Stelele pe moarte capătă nuanțe diferite, iar Universul este mai colorat decât credeam

Scientists have discovered that white dwarfs, the remnants of dying stars, can exhibit a range of colors, including green, when they consume rocky planets. This finding suggests that the universe is more colorful than previously thought. The research team from the University of Warwick found that the density of white dwarfs allows for unique interactions between elements, leading to unexpected colors. One notable example is the white dwarf WD J1330+6435, which may appear green due to its atmospheric composition after consuming material from a companion planet. Additionally, another white dwarf, WD J1011+2845, has been observed to be extremely red, showcasing the diversity of colors in these stellar remnants.
