Romania's first tram-train network will be established in Oradea, featuring 14 electric vehicles capable of operating on both tram and train tracks. The bidding deadline for the vehicles has passed, with one company submitting an offer. The estimated contract value is approximately 462 million lei, covering vehicle supply and maintenance services. The project includes a 33.4-kilometer network with connections to the airport and Băile Felix. The funding contract, worth around 1.43 billion lei, was signed in April 2026, and the infrastructure component will involve track rehabilitation and electrification. The network will have 27 stations.
