Prima reacție a Liei Savonea, după criticile aduse de CEDO în decizia privind restanțele magistraților români

The president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, Lia Savonea, commented on the recent ECHR ruling regarding unpaid salaries for judges, emphasizing the need for a thorough analysis of the decision. The ECHR criticized the Romanian Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court for their roles in the salary framework. Savonea acknowledged the ruling's reaffirmation of key principles, including the mandatory nature of final court decisions and the separation of powers. The ECHR unanimously ruled that the rights of five judges claiming unpaid salaries were not violated, citing the government's discretion in budgetary policies. This ruling follows a recent ICCJ decision mandating the government to pay judges overdue salaries of 1 billion euros within ten days.
