Prima locomotivă Alstom Traxx a intrat la CFR Călători

The first of 16 Alstom Traxx electric locomotives purchased by the Railway Reform Authority has entered commercial service with CFR Călători. This locomotive will operate on the InterRegio 1583 route from Bucharest Nord to Constanța and back. The locomotives are designed for long-distance passenger transport, capable of speeds up to 160 km/h, and feature ERTMS systems for monitoring and diagnostics. The project, valued at 441.8 million lei, aims to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 25%. The new locomotives will replace older models and are expected to enhance passenger comfort and safety while serving a network of about 3,978 kilometers across five major interregional routes.
