airBaltic has filed for creditor protection due to rising kerosene prices from the Iran conflict, aiming to restructure its debts. The Latvian airline secured €350 million in financing to support operations during this process. The company faces significant financial stress, with debts totaling approximately $583 million and plans to improve profitability by €44 million annually. Despite the challenges, airBaltic will continue its flights as it navigates the restructuring process, which is expected to conclude by June next year. The Latvian government is seeking a strategic investor while the airline reduces its fleet.
