Prețurile mondiale la alimente au ajuns în septembrie la cel mai ridicat nivel din ultimii aproape patru ani
In September, the global food price index reached its highest level in nearly four years due to logistical disruptions and weather concerns affecting cereal prices. The FAO reported an increase in the index to an average of 136 points, driven by fears of a strong El Niño and ongoing conflicts between Russia and Ukraine impacting agricultural supply chains. Prices for cereals, sugar, and vegetable oils rose, while meat and dairy prices fell. The FAO warned that persistent pressures from geopolitical tensions and climate shocks could soon affect food prices, especially in import-dependent countries. The global cereal production estimate for 2026 remains nearly unchanged at 2.979 billion tons, still the second highest on record.
