On September 8, gasoline prices rose to 9.73 lei per liter, while diesel remains above 10 lei. The cheapest gasoline is found in Mureș and Dâmbovița, while diesel is cheapest in Dâmbovița at 9.97 lei. GPL prices range from 4.59 to 4.67 lei per liter, with Cluj-Napoca having the lowest. Fuel prices have significantly increased over the years, with gasoline averaging 5.69 lei in 2021 and rising to 8.62 lei in 2026. Diesel prices followed a similar trend, starting at 5.65 lei in 2021 and reaching 9.12 lei in 2026. Authorities have already reduced diesel excise taxes to the maximum legal limit.
