On September 22, fuel prices in Romania remained stable, with a slight increase in diesel costs. Compared to last month, both gasoline and diesel have seen significant price hikes. The cheapest gasoline is priced at 9.87 lei per liter, while diesel averages around 10.88 lei in major cities. Over the past month, gasoline prices rose by 4.4%, leading to an increase of about 21 lei for a full tank. Diesel prices increased by 6.3%, costing drivers approximately 32 lei more for a full tank. A temporary 25% reduction in diesel excise tax is in effect until September 30, 2026. Romania ranks 13th in the EU for the cheapest gasoline and 12th for diesel prices, with even lower prices when taxes are excluded.
