The European Commission warns of unusually low gas reserves and rising competition for liquefied natural gas, urging governments to prepare for a challenging winter. Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen has called for continued energy consumption reduction measures, as current gas storage levels are about 70%, significantly lower than last year. He suggests voluntary measures to support gas supply and reduce demand, while emphasizing the importance of national emergency plans. The Commission advises against rapid large-scale gas purchases to avoid further price increases, proposing an 80% storage target instead of 90%. Although the situation is difficult, there are no immediate supply risks, but the energy price crisis is linked to supply challenges.
