International media reported on Monday about the DIICOT operation involving former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, who was stopped in traffic and subjected to searches at his home. The investigation concerns the formation of an organized criminal group and alleged fraud exceeding 1.1 million euros. Following the operation, Georgescu was taken for questioning by DIICOT. Russian agency TASS highlighted opposition leader George Simion's claims of dictatorship in Romania, stating that anyone could be next. Simion's message was echoed by other Russian publications, emphasizing the political implications of Georgescu's case, which is linked to previous controversies surrounding him.
