The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will announce the 2026 Nobel Prize in Economics on October 12 in Stockholm. This award is the last of this year's Nobel season. Officially known as the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, it was established in 1968 by the Swedish central bank. Unlike the other Nobel prizes, it was not included in Alfred Nobel's will. Last year, the prize was awarded to three researchers for their studies on innovation's role in economic development. The prize for this year is valued at 12 million Swedish kronor, approximately 1.2 million dollars, with the award ceremony scheduled for December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death in 1896.
