Premierul Republicii Moldova a lansat un proiect de reorganizare administrativ-teritorială a ţării

Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has proposed a public debate on the administrative reorganization of the country, suggesting the division of the current 32 districts into three regions. This reform aims to strengthen local governance by replacing district councils with regional councils that can better address infrastructure needs. Tofan emphasized the importance of empowering local authorities to effectively manage community services. The proposal maintains the current status of Chisinau, Balti, and Gagauzia, while Taraclia will become a level 2 municipality. Public services will be transferred to local or central administrations.
