Premieră medicală la București: România realizează prima protezare transcateter a valvei tricuspide din Europa Centrală și de Sud-Est
A team of doctors from Bucharest Emergency Hospital performed the first transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement in Romania and Central and Eastern Europe. The minimally invasive procedure was conducted on a 65-year-old patient with severe tricuspid insufficiency, where traditional open-heart surgery posed high risks. The intervention involved implanting a biological valve through the jugular vein, successfully restoring heart function. This advancement offers new hope for patients unsuitable for conventional surgery, marking a significant milestone in medical research. The LuX-Valve Plus used in the procedure is the first of its kind certified in the region, highlighting Romania's leading role in cardiovascular care.
