Premieră medicală în Vietnam: primul transplant de penis de la un donator aflat în moarte cerebrală
Vietnamese doctors successfully performed the country's first penis transplant using an organ from a brain-dead donor. The recipient, a 43-year-old man, had undergone a partial amputation four years prior. The procedure involved reconstructing key structures of the penis and reconnecting blood vessels and nerves through microsurgery. Post-surgery, the transplanted organ is healing well, with no complications reported, although long-term recovery of sensitivity and erectile function remains to be seen. This operation is noted as one of the rarest reconstructive transplant procedures globally.
