French retailer Auchan has implemented an AI and IoT-based system in Romania to enhance self-checkout efficiency by detecting scanning issues in real-time. This solution, developed in-house, has reduced errors and losses at checkout by at least 40%. The technology is currently operational in all Auchan stores in Romania and two in France, with plans for further expansion. The system supports 1,150 self-checkout stations, with potential growth to 3,500. Auchan Romania operates over 500 stores, including various formats and an online platform.
