Schools in Sibiu County are preparing for the 2026-2027 school year with ongoing cleaning and repair works. Over 150 educational units have toilets within the buildings, with only one school having outdoor toilets. More than 3,300 students are enrolled in the ninth grade, while many teaching positions remain unfilled due to over 90 teachers retiring. Fire safety authorizations are being reviewed, with 69 schools compliant and 32 in the process of obtaining permits. Major renovation projects will continue into the school year, affecting class schedules.
