Pragul de încălzire globală de 1,5°C ar putea fi depășit în doar câțiva ani, avertizează ONU

The UN Environment Programme warns that the critical threshold of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels may be exceeded soon, leading to severe climate impacts. While returning to below this threshold is possible, it requires rapid emission reductions and significant carbon removal. Current policies suggest a rise of about 2.6°C by 2100, increasing risks like heatwaves and rising sea levels. UNEP emphasizes that carbon removal methods, such as reforestation, are essential but cannot replace the need for drastic emission cuts. Immediate action is crucial to limit climate risks and adhere to existing climate commitments.
