On September 10, Catholics worldwide commemorate Saint Ambrose Barlow, a martyr executed for his faith. Captured during a secret Easter service in 1641, he was sentenced to death for being a Catholic priest. His skull, discovered a century later, serves as a relic and warning against Catholicism. Barlow was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1970, recognizing him among the 40 martyrs of England and Wales. His skull is preserved at Wardley Hall, where it can be viewed by appointment.
