Portugalia a interzis purtarea vălului islamic în spațiul public
Portugal's President António José Seguro has officially enacted a law prohibiting face covering in public spaces, directly targeting the full Islamic veil. He emphasized the importance of the face in human identity and communication. The law, supported by the right-wing coalition and the far-right Chega party, aims to enhance public safety and gender equality. Critics argue it infringes on religious freedom and disproportionately affects a small Muslim community. Violators face fines between €150 and €3,000, while those forcing others to cover their faces could face up to three years in prison. Exceptions are made for health, professional, artistic, or weather-related reasons.
