This strategic move aims to help Porsche and Volkswagen avoid hefty fines due to missed CO2 targets set by the EU. By joining forces with Xpeng, Porsche can better manage its emissions from electric models like Macan and Taycan, which alone are insufficient to offset the overall CO2 output. The new CO2 pool, managed by Porsche, invites other manufacturers to join until September 5, 2026, benefiting from relaxed EU regulations on emissions calculations over a three-year period.
