In July 2026, Romania experienced a negative natural population growth of -5,280, with deaths significantly outnumbering births. The number of registered births was 13,497, a decrease of 4.2% compared to July 2025, but an increase of 14.5% from June 2026. Deaths totaled 18,777, showing a slight decline from the previous year. A significant portion of deaths occurred among the elderly, with 40.7% aged 80 and over. Urban areas recorded more deaths than rural ones, and marriage rates were noted at 12,756, with 2,058 divorces registered.
