Ponta: Reactoarele 3 și 4, semnate în 2014 cu chinezii
Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta attributed current energy sector issues to Romania's decision to halt collaboration with China on Cernavodă reactors 3 and 4. He claimed that major energy investments have been blocked since 2016 due to ideological reasons. Ponta expressed skepticism about the completion of these reactors and criticized environmental organizations for hindering hydroelectric projects. He highlighted the worsening hydrological situation affecting nuclear units and noted that Romania had previously negotiated with China for reactor construction, but shifted focus to Western partners in 2020. The project is still ongoing, with an investment decision expected in 2027.
