Starting next year, Poland will ban keeping dogs and cats chained at home, following President Karol Nawrocki's approval of a new law. This decision ends a long-standing debate on the issue, as Nawrocki previously vetoed a similar proposal due to concerns over unrealistic requirements for dog kennel sizes. The new law mandates that pets must be kept indoors or in a sufficiently large fenced area, allowing them to move freely. Violators may face fines ranging from 1,000 to 100,000 zlotys, or even imprisonment for severe cruelty. The law will take effect 12 months after its publication in the Official Journal.
