Courts would be required to impose prison sentences for those violating driving bans while intoxicated. The proposed changes aim to enhance road safety and deter traffic violations. Over 7,100 drivers were caught ignoring bans in the first half of this year. Recent serious accidents have highlighted the need for stricter measures, including a case where a driver received a 20-year sentence for a fatal crash while banned and intoxicated.
